The trailer for the 16th season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is here, and it reunites two Breaking Bad legends.
The latest season of the comedy show – starring Charlie Day, Rob McElhenney, Danny DeVito, Glenn Howerton, and Kaitlin Olson – is set to premiere in the US on June 7, with the new promo giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
Among the typical chaos It’s Always Sunny is known for are two familiar faces Breaking Bad fans will recognise: Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.
The actors, who appeared as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in the popular crime drama, can be seen in a car driven by Day’s character Charlie Kelly.
In the scene, Charlie tells the pair the vehicle “may smell a little funky” as he vomited inside it earlier, before Paul’s character replies, “Oh, perfect”. Charlie refers to one of the duo as Mr Malcolm, which suggests the pair won’t be donning their gas masks once more as their Breaking Bad characters in a crossover episode.
A synopsis for the upcoming season says: “This year alone, Mac battles with allergies and long-distance dating, Charlie takes on his long-forgotten sisters, Dee fights for rent control and women’s athletics, Frank wrestles for his gun, and Dennis struggles to improve his mental health.
“At the end of the day, they’re navigating 2023 with 16 years of baggage as a few figures from their past rear their heads.”
One such familiar face could be Rickety Cricket, with actor David Hornsby teasing the popular character’s comeback.
“Listen, I hope so. I mean we have to,” the actor told Comicbook.com when asked about a potential return for his character. “Last season was a travesty, you know? There was zero Cricket. But I hope so. We always want to find the right story so it doesn’t just feel like he’s there for being there’s sake.
“So I’m sure we’ll try to keep that in mind as we prioritise, because it is fun to be on the show and to have him in stories, and hopefully show him keep devolving in fun ways.”
