Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe has given her best wishes to her onscreen persona Claire Beauchamp Randal Fraser.

The main protagonist in the time-travelling fantasy drama, Claire Fraser, played by Balfe would be 104 in today’s world.

In the series, Claire is a married World War II nurse visiting Scotland who finds herself transported from 1945 back to 1743.

Balfe shared an image of her first day playing Claire in 2014, and wrote: “Happy 104th birthday Claire Beauchamp Randal Fraser …. Here’s a pic of the first day I walked in her shoes ….. ⁦ @Outlander_STARZ ⁩ (thank you ⁦@Writer_DG for creating her ) #Outlander #ClaireFraser.

Fans were quick to jump to the comments wishing the fictional character a Happy Birthday.

A fourth said: “And the rest is history (literally)! What an incredible journey Claire has taken us all through. We couldn’t have asked for a better actress to step into those shoes than you Happy Birthday, CEBRF!”

Fans recently reacted to the major Outlander cast changes for the upcoming season. Some fans were thrilled at the return of certain characters reprising their roles, and others were bitterly disappointed, particularly by the recasting of Jenny Murray.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the cast change, one fan wrote: “Jenny Murray got recast for #Outlander and while I’m happy to get more Jenny content, I’m gonna miss Laura Donnelly so hard. I hope she’s busy making #TheNevers,”

Another user added: “They recast Jenny,” alongside a crying face emoji.
