Dexter: Resurrection has finally confirmed its release date.
The latest series in the franchise is a follow-up to New Blood, picking up after Michael C Hall’s serial killer was shot by his son Harrison.
Production is still ongoing in New York, but Paramount+ has announced that the first two episodes will drop on Friday 11 July. We’ll then get one new episode a week until the season finale on Friday 7 September.
The official synopsis reads: “Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison gone without a trace.
“Realising the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right.
“But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast.
“As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.”
There are some big names joining the cast for Resurrection, including Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage as a billionaire with a dark secret and Uma Thurman as his head of security.
Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet and How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris will also be appearing.
Meanwhile, Dexter: Original Sin – which stars Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar – has been confirmed for a second season.
The prequel series follows a young Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson, in 1991 as he interns at the Miami Metro Police Department.
