The hit crime drama has already spawned the 2021 revival series Dexter: New Blood and prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which premiered on Paramount+ last month.
A new sequel series, titled Dexter: Resurrection, was announced in July, with Michael C Hall set to reprise his role as the infamous serial killer.
According to Deadline, David Zayas, Jack Alcott and James Remar have all been cast in the spin-off as series regulars.
Zayas will reprise his role as Detective Angel Batista – who first appeared in the flagship series and returned for New Blood – while New Blood’s Alcott will reprise his role as Dexter’s son, Harrison Morgan.
Meanwhile, Remar will return to his role as Dexter’s late father Harry Morgan, who regularly appeared as a ghostly figure to his serial killer son and guide him through his emotional struggle.
The character didn’t make an appearance in New Blood, as Dexter’s foster sister and Harry’s biological child Debra Morgan stepped into Harry’s role after she died at the end of the original show’s eighth season.
While it hasn’t been confirmed how Harry will return, it seems likely he will be back as a ghost in Dexter’s mind.
Dexter: Resurrection, which begins production this month and will premiere in the summer, will be set in the present day and serve as a direct follow-up to Dexter: New Blood.
The franchise’s currently-airing prequel show, Dexter: Original Sin, follows a young Dexter (Shadow and Bone actor Patrick Gibson) as his bloodthirsty urges start to surface.
Other cast members include Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, Mr Robot’s Christian Slater, singer Christina Milian and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar.
