The hit video game adaptation will return to screens in April 2025, though a specific date is yet to be announced.

The upcoming season is set to fast-forward five years, following Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as their “collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind”.

Season two will also introduce Kaitlyn Dever as deadly soldier Abby, who ends up at odds with Ellie as she seeks vengeance for a loved one.

“It doesn’t matter if you have a code like me,” Abby says in the teaser. “There are just some things everyone agrees are just wrong.”

Elsewhere in the teaser, fans are offered a glimpse of Madame Web’s Isabela Merced as Ellie’s new love interest Dina, who can be seen slow dancing with Ellie.

Other new cast members include Beef’s Young Mazino, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s Catherine O’Hara, Riverdale’s Spencer Lord, You’s Tati Gabrielle, Top Gun: Maverick’s Danny Ramirez and Runaways’ Ariela Barer.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Wright is reprising his role as militia leader Isaac Dixon, who he portrayed through motion capture in The Last of Us Part II video game.

HBO describes the character as the “quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy”.
