The first trailer for Loki star Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Money Heist star Ursula Corberó’s new action comedy Lift has been released.
The heist thriller will see the pair join Kevin Hart, who plays a master thief charmed by his ex-girlfriend (Mbatha-Raw) and the FBI to pull off an impossible heist.
The heist in question will take place on a 777 jet flying from London to Zurich, as further teased by the first trailer for the film, which will drop on January 12.
“You and your friends are looking at identity fraud, money laundering and transportation of stolen property,” Mbatha-Raw’s Agent Gladwell tells Hart’s character, before continuing: “But we’re here to offer you a deal. We need you to steal something.”
“Our next score is going to be our biggest yet,” Hart’s character tells his crew. “Half a billion in gold is on its way to a terrorist cell… and the gold needs to disappear.”
The trailer continues by teasing how the high-stakes caper unfolds. Hart’s character’s crew does not seem thrilled to be working with the FBI; as Corberó’s criminal tells him: “I do not appreciate the emotional blackmail.”
Hart replies by saying: “This is just blackmail, blackmail.”
The first look also hints at disguises, action sequences and a healthy dose of laughs as the gang attempt to steal the gold from a mid-air flight.
Avatar’s Sam Worthington, Torchwood’s Burn Gorman, and Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jacob Batalon all co-star.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Ravonna Renslayer in MCU, Disney+ series Loki; a former TVA Hunter A-23 who rose through the ranks of the Time Variance Authority to become a respected judge who oversees the Loki investigation.
Ursula Corberó appeared in Netflix’s Money Heist as series narrator and main perpetrator Tokyo.
Lift will be available to stream January 12.
