Money Heist Korea hit Netflix today, giving subscribers who are missing the original show a nice little treat. But is it a remake, or an entirely new story?
Well, if you’ve seen it, you’ll know that it’s essentially a remake, with the characters even using the same names as those in its smash hit predecessor – The Professor, Tokyo, Berlin, etc. That being said, it’s not just a complete clone, with some of their stories being a bit different and the filmmakers bringing their own distinct touches to the production.
“I thought if we translate the background and characters into Korean, we could give birth to something novel. And that’s how we started,” said director Kim Hong-sun.
So, not a shot-for-shot remake, then, but Money Heist fans will still feel right at home with this new spinoff.
