Jared Padalecki is gearing up for his guest appearance in the fifth and final season of The Boys, although he admits he doesn’t have many details about his role yet. During an interview with Business Insider’s Caralynn Matassa at the 2025 Texas Film Awards, Padalecki expressed both excitement and nerves about the opportunity. “I don’t know a whole lot about it, which is effing terrifying,” he shared, reflecting on the mystery surrounding his character’s involvement.
Fans were thrilled when The Boys’ social media accounts recently announced that both Padalecki and fellow Supernatural star Misha Collins would be appearing in the upcoming season. On Friday, a representative for the show confirmed that the duo would make guest appearances, sharing scenes with Jensen Ackles, who has been a series regular since season three. However, specific details about Padalecki’s character and storyline are still under wraps. The actor hinted that he would have screen time with Ackles but confessed he is just as in the dark as fans are. “I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know if we like, bump into each other. I don’t know much about it. They’re still trying to write and figure out who’s gonna be there,” he explained.
The crossover of Supernatural alumni to Prime Video’s hit superhero satire series is no coincidence. The Boys is helmed by Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural, the beloved CW series that ran for 15 seasons. Ackles, who played Dean Winchester, joined The Boys as the gritty and foul-mouthed Soldier Boy in season three and will return as a series regular in season five. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, known for his role as John Winchester on Supernatural, appeared as Joe Kessler during season four of The Boys. Given these connections, Padalecki’s involvement seemed almost inevitable.
Padalecki’s path to The Boys was also encouraged by his wife, Genevieve Padalecki. Recalling their conversation, he said, “To give credit to my wife, I was like, ‘Hey, I think it’s gonna be a weird role. I don’t know what to do.’ And she was like, ‘You excited about it?’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ She goes, ‘Then do it.'” Genevieve even added a playful condition: “Only if you get to be in your birthday suit.” Padalecki joked about needing a month’s notice if the role required nudity, humorously describing a preparation routine of “broccoli and rice and chicken breasts” alongside push-ups.
Despite his nerves, Padalecki’s excitement for this new challenge is clear. As fans eagerly await more information, the prospect of a Supernatural reunion on The Boys is already generating significant buzz.
