The original action comedy starred Mark Wahlberg as suburban car salesman Dan Morgan. Dan has to go on the run with his family when his past life as a government assassin is discovered. The Family Plan premiered as the most-watched movie on Apple TV+ on its debut last year.

According to Deadline, the Game of Thrones star will be joining Wahlberg for the sequel, which will take place at Christmas in Europe. Details around Harington’s role are yet to be revealed.

Michelle Monaghan (Jessica Morgan), Zoe Colletti (Nina Morgan) and Van Crosby (Kyle Morgan) will also be reprising their roles for the latest instalment, which will see Dan planning the perfect holiday for his family.

However, things may not go to plan as the patriarch’s past continues to haunt the Morgans in unexpected ways.

Wahlberg is set to produce the movie, which is being written by David Coggeshall. Simon Cellan Jones will serve as both director and executive producer.

Elsewhere, Harington recently appeared in season 3 of BBC drama Industry, where he played antagonist Henry Muck, a privileged CEO of an eco-friendly start-up.

Ahead of the latest season, Industry’s Harry Lawtey spoke to Digital Spy about his “bromance” with Harington.

“We had a bit of a bromance going on throughout, on and off screen I suppose,” Lawtey said. “He’s just a brilliant guy, and he works with such levity and generosity.

“He doesn’t take himself seriously at all, but he takes the work very seriously and is incredibly well prepared. Looking back on my career so far, I found it as easy to work with him as anyone I can remember.
