LUCIFER is officially back after a devilish new teaser trailer has revealed the introduction of Lucifer’s twin brother. Fans are already busy predicting how the new threat will wreak havoc.
Season five of Lucifer is confirmed to hit Netflix on August 21. Ahead of the exciting new release, the original Fox show has taken to Twitter to hype the insane reveal of Lucifer’s twin brother, Michael. Some social media clues have teased the new villain’s master plan. Things are back to normal on Lucifer’s social media platform, but the new promo campaign may have spoiled some huge moments in season five.
After over a year of waiting, streamers will finally be able to see the hellish adventures of Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) continue on Netflix.
The series is confirmed to return with the first eight episodes of season five on August 21.
Before the highly anticipated release date, the show’s social media account has been teasing the upcoming season with a brand new trailer.
Additionally, something particularly spooky has happened to Lucifer’s Twitter profile.
Much like Lucifer’s life on earth will become usurped by his twin brother, Michael, the popular series’ Twitter page has been taken over and transformed into a ‘Michael stan account’.
As well as providing ‘Lucifans’ with endless entertainment in the run-up to the new season, the Twitter account’s new style may have inadvertently spoiled some of Michael’s plans.
The social media page has been proclaiming Michael’s superiority for the past 24 hours, and followers have predicted the twin brother’s bid to completely take over Lucifer’s life in season five.
They tweeted “THE DEVIL WORKS HARD BUT MICHAEL WORKS HARDER” and then added “ACTUALLY TBH THE DEVIL DOESN’T WORK THAT HARD”.
The new account also claimed: “MICHAEL WAS BORN FIRST WHICH MEANS HE WAS BORN A WINNER BAYBEEEE.”
Constant boasts from one of Michael’s biggest fans have fuelled speculation that the twin brother will assert his dominance over the mortals.
With Lucifer operating a nightclub in Los Angeles, Michael will first set his sights on his imprisoned brother’s love interest, Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
Lucifer went on an unexpectedly long hiatus following delays caused by coronavirus, but fans have been eating up the show’s new social media methods.
However, the barrage of ‘stan’ tweets from the show’s Twitter page have also caused a furor among some fans.

Following Lucifer’s new M.O. on social media, some followers have suspected the account to be a major red herring for the actual plot of the new series.
Moreover, the suspicious new style on Twitter has even been perceived as a particularly enthusiastic fan hacking into the account, although Lucifer’s cast and crew have yet to comment.
The regularity of the tweets have caused several fans to ‘switch off’ from interacting with their favourite show’s social media presence.
One Twitter user said: “Sorry you’re getting muted, the amount of tweets in such a small space of time is tantamount to spamming!!
“I can’t wait for the last series but this shits gotta go for now!!!”
Meanwhile, other fans loved the new direction the promotion for season five has taken.
Another fan added: “This account has the best community manager the world has ever known.”
Whether the account has really been taken over by an enthusiastic fan or simply a ploy from a social media manager with a dark sense of humour has yet to be confirmed.
Whatever the case, the new direction has teased some hilarious and sinister new twists for Lucifer’s impending fifth season.
Lucifer Season Five Part 1 will be released August 21 on Netflix.
