Lucifer’s sixth and final season is almost upon us, and as fans prepare to bid farewell to their beloved devil, stars Tom Ellis and Lauren German have been hinting at what’s to come.
After previously promising a “bittersweet” ending and plenty of tears, Tom and Lauren have now teased a series of “adventures and epiphanies” for each of the Netflix series’ characters.
Speaking to TV Guide ahead of Lucifer’s return later this week, Ellis revealed that the drama’s final episodes will chart unprecedented territory, especially when it comes to Lucifer Morningstar himself.
“I honestly feel like the territory we covered in season six is somewhere we’ve never been before, especially performing the character of Lucifer,” the actor explained.
“There was a dynamic that I’d not touched on before and how it echoed Lucifer’s feelings of abandonment in the first five seasons.”
Hinting at a conclusive and satisfying ending for our favourite hell-dweller-turned-God, Tom added: “Season six holds up because it was an opportunity for every character in their own way to say goodbye properly, and that never really happens.”
Lauren German, who plays Lucifer’s love Chloe Decker, echoed Tom’s sentiment. “The writers and Tom did such a beautiful job bringing everything together,” she said. “I think people are going to see so many different layers.”
Specifically, fans can look forward to seeing “different layers” of “Chloe and Lucifer being together and being a team, and what they sacrifice, Maze and Eve, [and] Ella”.
“I mean every character has these sort of eye-opening adventures and epiphanies,” Lauren continued. “I think people are going to like how it ends.”
We sure as hell hope so. (Get it?)
