Outlander enthusiasts might have overlooked the cameo of a former cast member in a fresh episode from Black Mirror’s seventh season.

Netflix released the seventh season of Black Mirror just last week, but many fans have already devoured the six episodes from the twisted imagination of creator Charlie Brooker.

Hotel Reverie is an homage to black-and-white Hollywood films and features modern-day Hollywood A-lister Brandy Friday (portrayed by Issa Rae) using cutting-edge technology to step into an old movie to film a reboot.

The star-studded episode also includes Awkwafina and Dame Harriet Walter, as well as The Crown’s Emma Corrin playing the role of tragic Hollywood starlet Dorothy Chambers/Clara Ryce-Lechere.

After Brandy enters the classic film Hotel Reverie using AI technology Redream, she quickly discovers that her co-star Dorothy/Clara is more sentient than she initially thought, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

In Hotel Reverie, Clara’s husband is Claude, a Frenchman who repeatedly tries to kill her but is thwarted each time.

Claude is portrayed by none other than Outlander actor Stanley Weber, who played the villainous and enigmatic Comte St. Germain in the show’s second season.

Unfortunately, the Comte met a violent end in Outlander, but given the show’s theme of time travel and the character’s known ability to navigate different eras, he could potentially make a brief return, much like Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) did in the seventh season.

Since his stint in Outlander, Weber has been involved in a number of significant projects including Sky’s Britannia alongside Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly, Berlin Station, The Runaway, and The Head.

Black Mirror, the anthology series, has previously showcased Outlander actors, such as Tobias Menzies, who featured in the eerily prophetic episode The Waldo Moment.

Menzies portrayed MP Liam Monroe, who was defeated by the sarcastic animated blue bear, Waldo.

In a grim turn of events, Waldo ended up ruling the world in what was essentially an election based on popularity. The Waldo Moment foresaw the rise of figures like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump.

Andrew Gower, who played Bonnie Prince Charlie in Outlander, appeared in the unsettling Black Mirror episode Crocodile, where he portrayed Rob, a man inadvertently entangled in a hit-and-run murder and its subsequent cover-up.

Crocodile was set in a world where individuals were equipped with Black Mirror’s futuristic Grain technology, which recorded everything a person and even an animal could see.

Meanwhile, Gregor Firth, known for his role as Kincaid in Outlander, featured in the Black Mirror episode Loch Henry, set in Scotland, which followed a pair of documentary-makers investigating a series of unsolved murders.

Outlander season 7 is available to buy now on Digital and is streaming on MGM+ via Prime Video now
