Netflix’s latest revenge thriller has taken over the streaming charts. It has even completely dominated one of the platform’s hottest shows.
Per FlixPatrol, the recently released Dos tumbas (Two Graves) has officially taken over the number one spot on the list of the top streaming series currently available on Netflix. As of the time of writing, Two Graves is holding firm at the top of the list, whereas the likes of Wednesday and Dan Da Dan have slipped down to the fifth and tenth place spots on the chart, respectively. To top things off, Two Graves is also the number one streaming series in over two dozen countries.
Created by Agustín Martínez and written by Jorge Díaz and Antonio Mercero (the three of whom are collectively known as Carmen Mola), Two Graves stars Kiti Mánver as Isabel, the grandmother of one of two young girls who disappears suddenly and takes it upon herself to uncover the truth by any means necessary. The series’ core cast is rounded out by Álvaro Morte, Hovik Keuchkerian, Nadia Vilaplana, Zoé Arnao, Slava Reina, Carlos Scholz, Camino Fernández, Antonello Pinto, and Nonna Cardoner, among others. Like many of Carmen Mola’s past works, which have received prestigious awards such as the 2021 Premio Planeta de Novela, Two Graves is a decidedly devastating affair.
The official logline for Two Graves reads, “After her 16-year-old granddaughter Verónica and her friend Mandy disappear, Isabel starts an unsanctioned investigation to uncover the truth behind their vanishing, embarking on a journey of vengeance.” Over the course of the series, Isabel’s investigation roots out a network of high-profile parties hosted and attended by business tycoons and celebrities alike which largely revolve around exploiting young women. Although Isabel does manage to uncover the truth about what happened to her granddaughter, the details of what happened prove to be even more harrowing than Verónica’s disappearance itself.
What Do Critics and Audiences Think of Carmen Mola’s Two Graves on Netflix?
Since its release on Aug. 29, Two Graves has received rave reviews from both critics and viewers. Although the series has been criticized for its length and the occasionally plodding pace, Two Graves has still managed to garner high praise in the vast majority of reviews of the series. While Two Graves does not currently boast enough reviews to hold a score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, it has brought in enough reviews to earn a 6.3/10 rating via the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). Individual episodes of Two Graves have held on to slightly higher reviews, with the first, second, and third episodes of the series earning 7.1, 7.3, and 6.7 ratings via IMDb, respectively.
