Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has received some major updates.
Announced at the annual One Piece Day celebration in Japan this weekend (despite the anniversary actually taking place on July 22), the show has been officially confirmed for a third season.
Ian Stokes, who previously served as executive producer, is stepping up to serve as co-showrunner alongside Joe Tracz (who himself joined Matt Owens as season 2 co-showrunner after Steven Maeda stepped down after season 1).
Production for season 3 is set to begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa, with season 2 set to premiere in 2026.
To make the wait a little bit easier, a new first-look trailer and images of cast members new and returning in character have been released.
We get to see Brendan Sean Murray as the giant warrior pirate Brogy, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, surrounded by pink petals, and Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday throwing her signature Peacock Slasher.
There’s also former Hollyoaks star Callum Kerr as General Smoker, who not only has the accurate white hair, but also two incredibly chunky cigars in his mouth at the same time.
The trailer also features a few shorts of the Straw Hats in action, as well as Luffy sailing into the jaws of danger.
For season 2, the show has also been given a slight title change, now going by One Piece: Into the Grand Line.
Meanwhile, the anime has just premiered episode 1,139, while a new Netflix anime retelling of certain story arcs is also in production.
