Outlander season 7 spoilers follow.
Outlander star Caitríona Balfe has issued a “goodbye” statement as the season 7 finale drops, revealing her character Claire Fraser’s fate.
Premiering today (January 17), the second part of season seven of the period drama will reveal whether or not Claire will survive a near fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Balfe has already confirmed she will be returning for season 8, so it looks as though Claire will pull through and join her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) at Fraser’s Ridge. Fans will have to wait until the eighth and final season to see if the injury has any further repercussions.
Taking to Instagram ahead of the finale, Balfe shared an emotional statement, in which she confirmed that her character will appear in the eighth season, thanking her fans as well as the cast and crew.
“Time to say goodbye ….. our Season 7 finale airs tonight. Thank you for watching and being with us on this journey. It’s been an epic season,” she penned.
“Our cast and crew, writers and producers put their hearts and souls into this season …. We hope you’ve enjoyed the ride and we so look forward to coming back one last time for Season 8 …. See you there.”
Meanwhile, Balfe recently opened up about filming her last ever scenes for the Starz drama’s eighth season, saying: “God, it was so emotional. I mean it was an emotional scene anyway, of course, because a lot of them are.”
“We’ve had a couple of wraps. I feel like we had the official one and then we had our final kind of pick-ups and that sort of stuff,” she continued.
“But for our official wrap, we had lots of executives who came in and there was lots of the cast who came to the studio, the whole studio was full and we had a seven-minute scene.
