Outlander: Blood of My Blood Renewed for Season Two as Filming Begins in Scotland

Outlander: Blood of My Blood has officially been renewed for a second season, and production is already underway in Scotland. MGM+ confirmed the news just as the prequel series approaches the end of its debut run.

The first season premiered last month, with new episodes released weekly. Its tenth and final episode is scheduled to air on Saturday, October 10. Ahead of the finale, the network revealed that fans can look forward to even more of the story, as a second season is already in the works.

A standalone prequel to Outlander, the show explores the lives and relationships of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp’s parents. The cast includes Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser, Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie, Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston, and Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp.

Production for season two has begun at Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld, the same location where the original Outlander series has been filmed for the past decade.

Spanning from the battlefields of World War I to the Scottish Highlands of the 18th century, Outlander: Blood of My Blood follows two fated couples as they fight to stay together against forces determined to pull them apart.

The ensemble also features Tony Curran, Rory Alexander, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, and Conor MacNeill.

Matthew B. Roberts continues as showrunner and executive producer, joined by Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
