Outlander may be coming to an end, but Sam Heughan is keeping busy with an exciting new venture.
While fans of the Starz drama are preparing to say goodbye after eight seasons next year, Sam has been making some big career moves. On September 29, he revealed that he has opened his own distillery in his hometown of Galloway, Scotland. Aptly named the Galloway Distillery, Sam’s latest project will involve creating, brewing, and selling the Sassenach Spirits line, along with other brands.
“@gallowaydistillery is now OPEN!!!” he captioned his Instagram post. “Thrilled to finally announce this homecoming, the @sassenachspirits has come home to Scotland. Galloway has so much to offer, come and see for yourself! Slainte!x.”

Fans were quick to celebrate the news online. “Amazing!! Congratulations Sam So happy for you ♥️,” one follower exclaimed. Another added, “Cheers!!! this is so fantastic ❤️❤️❤️.”
When asked about the inspiration behind creating his own distillery, Sam explained in a statement on the Galloway Distillery website that he wanted to give fans their own personal taste of Scotland.
“I created the Galloway distillery to champion and celebrate the unique terroir and history of this beautiful corner of Scotland,” he said. “A homecoming and new chapter, in the pursuit of fine spirit.”
Sam hasn’t slowed down elsewhere, either. Just days before opening the distillery, he released a cocktail book titled The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure on September 23.
It seems this is only the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Outlander star. Congratulations, Sam!
