Caitríona Balfe, best known for her role in Outlander, has offered some exciting insights into the show’s eighth and final season.

On the Outlander Instagram page, Balfe, 45, shared a delightful video where she converses with Florrie May Wilkinson, currently playing Fanny Pocock, as reported by the Scottish Daily Express.

In the footage, Wilkinson expresses her joy about working on the series, saying, “I have loved making season seven so much.” She credits Balfe for making the experience even more special, adding, “It was such a good opportunity, and being with Caitríona makes it all better because I get to meet her and she gives really good tips and advice.”

When Balfe prompts Wilkinson to share those tips, Wilkinson reveals, “You taught me how to be good at acting and taught me how to cry.” The Belfast and Ford v Ferrari star humbly responds, “You did it all on your own. You were good.”

Balfe then teases fans with hints about the final season: “Well, I think for Claire, she’s so excited that you’re going to come back and live with her. And potentially a little apprentice in the making.” Suggesting a possible new storyline, she adds, “You know, she will be getting into the surgery. We’ll have you doing lots of things.”

In a lighthearted moment, Balfe jokes, “We can make potions. You and I can talk about maybe we’ll put a spell on Jamie, which means he’ll just give us all his money and then, I don’t know, we’ll go do something really fun with it.”

Wilkinson reflects on her character’s relationship with the Frasers, noting, “I think Fanny would be very grateful that they’d taken her in because she’s been lonely.” Balfe acknowledges Fanny’s adjustment to life on Fraser’s Ridge, saying, “It might take her some time to get used to everyone.” However, she remains optimistic, adding, “But then we’ll be like a big, happy family.”

Balfe warmly welcomes Wilkinson, embracing her and saying, “Welcome to the family.”

In Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novel Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, Fanny becomes part of Jamie and Claire’s family as they rebuild their home on the Ridge. She forms close bonds with the Ridge’s younger residents, including Germain Fraser (Robin Scott) and Jemmy MacKenzie (Blake Johnston-Miller), who are close in age to her.

Additionally, Fanny begins working alongside Claire, learning the art of healing. This opportunity provides her with a stability she has never known before.

The seventh season ended on a dramatic note, with Claire believing that Fanny’s mother might be her own stillborn daughter, Faith, whom she lost in season two. This emotional revelation is expected to play a significant role in the final season, possibly leading to major deviations from the original books.

In many ways, Fanny has become another child figure for Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire, helping to fill the void left by the tragic loss of Faith. Fans eagerly await how this poignant storyline will unfold in Outlander’s swan song season.
