Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe found herself in an awkward encounter with Patriots Day star John Goodman while walking the red carpet.
Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) is the leading lady in Outlander, effortlessly elegant and the one and only woman in Highlander Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) life.
And while the Starz actress is matched with the handsome Scottish star, Balfe revealed a very different taste in men during a game.
Balfe played “Never Have I Ever” with fellow Irish actor Jamie Dornan with British Vogue to promote their movie Belfast.
Once the pair sat down, Balfe picked out a piece of paper from a fish bowl which had the question “Never have I ever met my celebrity crush?”
The 44-year-old quickly lifted up her “I have” paddle and stated: “I met John Goodman.”
To this, Dornan burst out laughing: “Not what I was expecting or anyone was expecting.”
Goodman has starred in a plethora of hit movies including The Flinstones, Argo, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Big Lebowski and is the voice of Sully in the animated film Monsters Inc.
She went on to comment: “I was young but there’s something very endearing and lovely about him.”
Sadly, going by her interaction with the now 71-year-old, he wasn’t exactly thrilled with her confession.
Balfe added: “And then I tried to tell him on a red carpet once and he was like, very scared of me, I think.”
She wasn’t the only one with an awkward story to tell either as Dornan admitted that he used to have a black and white picture of actress Liv Tyler by his bed.
“I used to kiss it every night before I went to bed and then I was in New York and I met her.”
“My friend knew this and said, ‘Jamie, you tell Liv about that time?’ and I had to tell Liv Tyler to her face that I used to kiss a black and white picture of her every night.
“She was like, so lovely about it but it was mortifying for me.”
Reflecting on the start of the game, Balfe stated: “I feel like that was a terrible choice on my part.”
While Balfe isn’t believed to be sharing the screen with Goodman any time soon, she will be reunited with Heughan on the small screen.
A release date for Outlander season seven part two hasn’t come out just yet but it is known it will begin sometime in November.
