While the cast of Stranger Things Season 5 has yet to read the script for the final episode, Finn Wolfhard knows how he would like the series to end.
“Truly, I would love a Lord of the Rings style happy ending,” Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the series, told Access Online. “They’re waiting to give us the last episode. We’ve read up to the second-to-last episode, so we’re all on the edge of our seats to find out what the ending is.” The actor also praised fellow cast members Millie Bobby Brown and Joseph Quinn for their various successes away from Stranger Things.
Millie Bobby Brown recently revealed why she believes the cast hasn’t received the final script even though she knows how Eleven’s story will end. “We haven’t read any [finale] scripts yet,” she explained. “I know what happens to my character, but I don’t know what happens to others. So I think, yeah, they’re holding it back until we’re all together, and we can all cry and be sad together.”
Plot Details For Season 5 Are Still Under Wraps
Brown also touched on what saying goodbye to Stranger Things feels like personally. “It’s really conflicting because it’s something that you love, and it’s something that you’re used to, and it’s like a comfort thing,” she said. “But then taking your comfort blanket away and having to really step into your own, it’s exciting, but it’s also really scary. So, yeah, I think that it’s really conflicting.”
Plot details for Season 5 are scarce. However, given the intense Season 4 finale, which left fans with a cliffhanger as the Upside Down seemed to slip into Hawkins, it’s safe to assume the team will continue to fight Vecna. The final season of Stranger Things will consist of eight episodes, with the first titled “Chapter One: The Crawl.”
Filming for the final season is currently underway with returning cast members Wolfhard, Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Winona Ryder, and David Harbou. Sadie Sink is also returning as Max Mayfield. A set photo from the final season found the character lying in a hospital bed with McLaughlin’s Lucas at her side.
Sink previously shared that she hopes the series ends with Lucas and Max together. “I mean, they’re really cute, aren’t they? And the little, like, note exchange, that was really sweet. I think we gotta see something. There’s definitely room to grow there,” she said. Given her ordeal in the small town, the actor also said Max would probably choose to leave Hawkins in the final episode.
The final season of Stranger Things does not have a set release date.
