As fans eagerly await the second half of Outlander’s seventh season, many were thrilled to learn Marsali Fraser star Lauren Lyle was in Scotland “filming.”

Although she’s unlikely to appear in the highly anticipated remaining few episodes, it was confirmed Lyle would reprise her role for the eighth and final season.

In a special behind-the-scenes clip posted on the show’s official Instagram account Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan could be seen dressed in character and dropping major hints.

They teased that fans could look forward to seeing a “new cast and new set” before Balfe interjected: “Do you know what else we have? Some old cast.”

The actress then panned the camera behind her to show Lyle and her onscreen husband César Domboy in character and playing clapping games.

While this post sparked excitement, Lyle continued to send fans into a meltdown as she showed off how she spent her downtime in Scotland.

In the video captioned: “I’m filming in Scotland so come with me!!” the star could be seen sightseeing, swimming, and driving across the country’s vast mountains.

Taking to the comments, an eager @kimhaneylozada123 wrote: “I cannot wait to see you in season 8 of Outlander!”

And @southern.momma.sarah shared: “Thanks for giving us a glimpse. Looks like fun. Can’t wait to see all you guys’ hard work on the screen.”

A third fan @ardilesfabiola added: “Outlander season 8!!?? I’m happy and sad at the same time … Thank you for all these years with Outlander and for being Marsali.”

While others questioned if Lyle was returning for her ITV crime drama, including @marzipanknits2 who asked: “Are you filming Season 2 of Karen Pirie?”

@kjclarkca echoed: “I thought for a second you were going to look to your left and suddenly the words ‘Karen Pirie’ were going to appear.”
