Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe share an intimate moment on the battlefield in Season 7 of ‘Outlander’.
It’s only two months now until Droughtlander ends, and the season 7 premiere of Outlander takes place on June 16.
To mark the occasion, STARZ has released several new photos of Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe in character as Jamie and Claire Fraser. They are posed on a battlefield, which means that they have left Fraser’s Ridge and joined the Revolutionary War, which has finally come to Outlander in the supersized season.
Of course, as previously reported, the the season will be divided into two, with the first eight episodes airing this summer, and the remaining eight not airing until sometime in 2024.
Season 7 will be based on two of bestselling author Diana Gabaldon’s novels, A Breath of Snow and Ashes (book 6) and An Echo in the Bone (book 7), as the sixth season was cut short due to COVID-19 and Caitríona’s pregnancy.
Earlier this year, STARZ released the new opening sequence, which revealed a few clues to readers of Gabaldon’s novels about what might take place when the romantic, time-traveling epic returns.
At this point, it’s supposition, but it looks as if the fire at the Big House on Fraser’s Ridge will happen this season, and a romance will begin between Young Ian (John Bell) and new cast member Rachel Hunter (Izzy Meikle-Small).
Also, the dazzling blue sapphire that was last seen in season 3 when Jamie handed it over to Lord John (David Berry) for safekeeping after his brief escape from Ardsmuir prison, is returned, and may be used by Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) who need to go back to the future because of a health crisis that demands 20th century medical intervention.
And finally, the arrival of the Revolutionary War also marks the arrival of a grown-up William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart), Jamie’s illegitimate son by Geneva Dunsany, and the introduction of Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips), a medical doctor and Quaker, who uses his healing skills on the side of the Americans.
But before that all takes place, fans of Sam’s can get their fill of him on the big screen as he is starring in the rom-com Love Again, which is opening in theaters on May 5, and also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Céline Dion.
As all rom-coms do, it starts with a meet cute when Mira Ray (Chopra Jonas) tries to deal with the death of her fiancé by sending texts to his old cellphone number. Of course, it has since been reissued and journalist Rob Burns (Heughan), who is intrigued by the texts, secretly arranges a way to meet her. The two click but, again, as happens in all good rom-coms, she discovers that he has been lying to her and breaks off their relationship.
In the meantime, Rob has been assigned to write a profile on Céline, who helps him figure out love, especially as it applies to the lyrics of her songs.
Sam also posted on Instagram some photos he posed for to promote the film in Spain. Check them out below.
