It’s just days until Sam Heughan’s much-anticipated new role in Channel 4 thriller The Couple Next Door hits screens.
Sam appears alongside former Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson, Pennyworth’s Jessica De Gouw and How To Get Away With Murder’s Alfred Enoch.
The Scots star, 43, plays police officer Danny, married to De Gouw’s character, a yoga teacher called Becka.
They strike up a friendship with Tomlinson and Enoch’s Evie and Pete, who have moved to their neighbourhood in suburban Leeds.
As time goes on, the couples get very close to each other until one night when they become sexually entangled in a way that changes their lives forever.
The six-part psychological thriller explores the claustrophobic feel of suburbia and the troubles of giving in to romantic desires and is set to be a steamy affair, judging by the trailers and sneak peek snaps that have been shared so far.
As we reported last week, the Outlander star shared an image from the show on social media ahead of the show hitting screens this week, featuring him holding Eleanor in his arms as rain pounds down on the pair.
Sam’s loyal fleet of fans were all in agreement that they’re looking forward to catching him in a new role.
And many of them gave it the seal of approval by likening the show to smash hit weepy romantic drama The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdam. @Jess_ica_9012 said: “Why does this look like a Notebook knockoff.” @Ktbail21 added: “thought this was the scene from The Notebook for a second.” @Camillecorrado said: “Well helloooo The Notebook 2.0.”
But that’s not all the diehard fanbase of the smash hit historical time-travel drama set and filmed in Scotland had to say. And many of Sam’s followers from across the globe all chimed in when Sam posted the most up to date trailer to say that they hope the Channel 4 show will be made available in their territory.
