Peaky Blinders star Kate Phillips has landed her next lead movie role in UK-set horror Black Noise.

The new film from director Simon Blake is also set to star Phillips’s fellow Peaky Blinders actor Aidan Gillen, who is also known for starring in Game of Thrones.

Black Noise, which is teased as a “hallucinogenic horror”, sees Phillips play Leda – a journalist who infiltrates a memorial meal for the patriarch of the rich Livingstone family.

While she secretly seeks justice, her intentions diverge with The Butler, who is out for revenge. Gillen plays the role of Hector, the eldest member of the Livingstones.

Also on board are Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light’s Tom Mothersdale, I May Destroy You’s Rebecca Calder, Last Night In Soho’s Michael Jibson and Brave New World’s Jeanie Hackman.

Colette Delany-Smith, who is producing, called Black Noise a “haunting, deeply unsettling story that turns into something ominous and disquieting until its savage and carnal climax”.

“Simon has created a rich and atmospheric visual style with an almost fetishistic detail around the food, nature, wardrobe, and the hallucinatory power of plant medicine,” she added (via Deadline).

“Through this hallucinogenic lens, the evil sins of the past are exposed, and revenge is served up on a plate. We are delighted with our cast and cannot wait to make what we think will be uniquely individual horror.”

Filming is due to begin this month in the UK.

Phillips notably played Linda Shelby in Peaky Blinders, and is currently appearing in BBC series Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light as Jane Seymour.
