We’ve got the first trailer for Death of a Unicorn, which is potentially going to be one of the weirdest movies of 2025.

A24 has released that the first trailer for Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, ahead of its release in US cinemas in Spring 2025.

A UK release date for the black comedy has yet to be confirmed.

To mark the trailer release, A24 also unveiled the striking first poster for Death of a Unicorn yesterday (December 17), which features a (presumably) dead unicorn under a sheet with only its horn poking out.

Written and directed by Alex Scharfman, Death of a Unicorn follows a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while on their way to a weekend retreat.

When they get there, the father’s billionaire boss (Richard E Grant) sees an opportunity to exploit the unicorn’s miraculous disease-curing properties for his own gain.

But as the trailer shows, the unicorn’s parent isn’t best pleased with this development, and comes back to seek revenge. Or as the excellent trailer tagline goes: “Poke around and find out.”

Death of a Unicorn, which was one of the movies to be allowed to continue shooting during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, also stars Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hynes and Stephen Park.

Earlier this month, a new look at Ortega’s return in Wednesday season two was released to mark the news that the show has finished filming ahead of a 2025 release on Netflix.

She’s also already lined up a Wednesday reunion with Catherine Zeta Jones in new movie The Gallerist, which also stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Zach Galifianakis and Sterling K Brown.
