The character has appeared on the CW show since season two, though it seems Fangs will play a much bigger role as the show time-jumps forward for its next outing.
Riverdale has made Drew Ray Tanner, who plays Fangs Fogarty, a series regular for season five.
Fangs will be a regular going into the new season, E! News has confirmed, with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa saying: “Drew’s such a great guy and terrific actor, and has been with Riverdale since season two, making the character of Fangs Fogarty a fan favorite.
“We’re all thrilled he’s joining us for season five as a series regular, living with on-again, off-again boyfriend Kevin Keller and Serpent Queen Toni Topaz. Also happy to announce that we’ll see more of Drew SINGING!”
Tanner himself reacted to the news, saying on Instagram: “Almost 3 years to the day my journey with Riverdale started. I didn’t know back then that it’d become such a life changing experience for me.”
Back in season four, we saw Fangs grow closer to Kevin (Casey Cott) as they made plans to date each other while in college.
Riverdale season five will jump seven years ahead, which star Lili Reinhart recently described as a “way of revamping” the show.
“I get to play someone who’s my age now and not a teenager,” the Betty Cooper actress added. “I’m going up in the world… I don’t want to be 30 playing an 18 year old!”
