Riverdale season 6 spoilers follow.
Riverdale has unveiled its first look at the seventh and final season, which is set to take place in the past.
The finale of the sixth season saw Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) destroy the comet that was zeroing in on the town of Riverdale, but time consequently reverted back to the 1950s as a result.
As part of Entertainment Weekly’s preview of the upcoming season, the first photo showed Toni (Vanessa Morgan), Cheryl, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) locked in arms as they wear vintage dresses.

Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also shared a sneak peek of the upcoming season, posting a behind-the-scenes video on his Instagram account.
“In honor of @entertainmentweekly FIRST look at our LAST season of #RIVERDALE, set in the 1950’s, here’s a sneak-peek at our beautiful premier episode, coming soon!! We’re making something truly special this year,” he wrote in the caption, with the video showing a record being selected for a jukebox diner.
In an interview with the outlet, Aguirre-Sacasa teased the elements from the final batch of episodes, saying: “It’s more about our characters finding their way in the constricting, dark realities of the 1950s, trying to discover themselves in a really repressive, conformist, homophobic, racist world.

“The biggest struggle is our characters trying to live authentic individualistic lives during a time period where that was really hard to do. It’s probably, weirdly, our most grounded season,” he concluded.
Petsch, who recently signed up for the remake of The Strangers, echoed the thoughts of the lead writer, saying: “This season is more pared down with the craziness, but there are some bizarre things happening.
“There is one pretty major thing in my family life that’s bizarre and amazing. Other than that, this season is very grounded and focused around relationships.”
Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7 in 2023. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix.
