Stranger Things fans shouldn’t expect any season 4 episodes to arrive until at least 2022.

This disappointing update was shared by Mike Wheeler star Finn Wolfhard recently, who revealed in a video call (via Games Radar): “Season 4? It should be out sometime next year, hopefully.”

With what’s transpired over the last 13 months, the return of the nostalgic Netflix sci-fi was always going to be heavily pushed back – let’s just hope it comes in the early stages of next year.

Elsewhere, Dustin Henderson’s Gaten Matarazzo previously weighed in on the show’s “mature” evolution in season 4.

“When it comes to the tone of the season, it’s definitely, I think the tone is definitely matured for sure, and I think they [creators Matt and Ross Duffer] do that on purpose because I think they want their show to mature with their kids.

“As we are growing older as people, we have to grow older as characters. They’re confronted by this issue, but they embrace it, and they use it to their advantage. And they don’t freak out when we get taller or when our voices drop or anything like that,” he continued.

“They use it and they use it as ammunition for their writing. It’s incredible what they can do.”

Stranger Things seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Netflix.
