Stranger Things season 4 spoilers ahead.
Netflix subscribers are still mourning the loss of Joseph Quinn’s ‘sacrificial lamb’ Eddie Munson, who was chewed up by Demobats in Stranger Things season 4.
Executive producer Shawn Levy stopped to chat with The Hollywood Reporter at this week’s Primetime Emmy Awards, where Eddie’s seismic popularity amongst fans of the show was brought up.
“Look at the Eddie phenomenon as an example of this is a made-up character that got introduced in the fourth year and the world fell in love with him.
“The way that our fans invest in the stories and the characters, that’s why we do this job, it’s what we dream of when we do this job,” he smiled.
Despite meeting his maker, could there be a special Eddie flashback scene in season 5 to satisfy the fandom?
“A lot of people can’t even handle the thought of season 5 without some excuse for Eddie presence,” said Levy.
“[It’s] highly unlikely, highly unlikely… but, we hear you world. We know you’re obsessed with Eddie, so were we.”
Luckily for the Stranger Things lovers out there, Digital Spy did some digging and realised that the Hellfire Club headbanger has the potential to return in one surprising way.
In this Dungeons & Dragons-laden universe, Kas the Bloody-Handed exists, a devout ally of Vecna’s right up until a black sword “whispered to him” to rebel against this God of Secrets.
During his defeat of Vecna, Kas gets hurled across the multiverse before transforming into a vampire. Relying on mythology for a moment, the fact that bites can result in vampirism means that Eddie may well be resurrected as Kas in Stranger Things.
Or are we just grasping at straws?
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
