Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and Glee’s Darren Criss are teaming up for a new Justice League animated movie.
Justice League: Warworld will feature the duo as Batman and Superman, respectively.
The cast also includes Castle’s Stana Katic as Wonder Woman, Captain America’s Frank Grillo as Agent Faraday, and Doom Patrol’s Matt Bomer as Old Man (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Notable voice actors Troy Baker, John DiMaggio, Ike Amadi and Robin Atkin Downes are playing Jonah Hex, Lobo, Martian Manhunter and Mongul, respectively.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Until now, the Justice League has been a loose association of superpowered individuals.
“But when they are swept away to Warworld, a place of unending brutal gladiatorial combat, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the others must somehow unite to form an unbeatable resistance able to lead an entire planet to freedom.”
Ackles previously voiced Batman in an animated adaptation of the classic comic book story The Long Halloween, while Criss has voiced the Man of Steel in Superman: Man of Tomorrow, Justice Society: World War II and Legion of Super Heroes.
That’s not the only experience Ackles has had with superheroes. In addition to voicing Jason Todd in Batman: Under the Red Hood, the star had a major role in The Boys.
His character Soldier Boy was at the centre of some explosive storylines and shocking revelations in season 3 before being put back on ice in the finale, but it’s not the last we’ve seen of him.
Earlier this month, Ackles confirmed his character will pop up in The Boys spin-off Gen V for a “brief moment”, alongside “a few cameos from the mothership”.
