Teen Wolf star Holland Roden’s new horror film Mother, May I? has landed itself a release date.

The film, which also stars Smile and Scream 5 actor Kyle Gallner, will be released on digital platforms on August 21.

In addition to the confirmation of the release date, we’ve also got a trailer teasing us with a little bit of what we can expect.

In the footage, we see a couple at a “very off the grid” lakeside retreat. They scatter some ashes and try and open up to each other before things start getting weird.

Scored by some tense music, we see Roden’s character Anya start to look and act like a “different person”, seemingly secretly injecting her partner during a hug, intercut with scenes of insects and footage on a TV screen of Gallner’s character Emmett as a child. It all builds up to him asking, “Are you my mother?”

The official synopsis makes what we see in the trailer a bit more straightforward, reading: “Emmett enters into a nightmarish game of therapy with his wife Anya, who has inexplicably taken on the persona of his estranged and recently-deceased mother.

“Bizarre and creepy in equal doses, this psychological thriller will keep you guessing if this is truly possession or just a twisted battle of wills.”

Roden recently returned for Teen Wolf: The Movie, reuniting with most of the show’s original cast. We at Digital Spy enjoyed the film well enough, stating that it gives fans a lot of service and does its characters justice, but it might be a bit too impenetrable for newcomers to get on board with.

Mother, May I? will be released on digital platforms on August 21.
