The Big Bang Theory fans, buckle up, this one is going to be hard to hear: the main couple of the show shouldn’t have been the endgame. Let’s get into it, shall we?

Penny and Leonard have had 12 seasons of development (both individually and as a couple), but something about them still rubs fans the wrong way.

If you think about it, the only thing that Leonard really likes about Penny from day one is her looks, and he doesn’t start caring about her hobbies and personality until much, much later.

Penny is no better, really. She makes fun of Leonard’s interests all the time.

The couple is constantly making snarky comments at each other’s expense and rolling their eyes at something the other person is doing.

Sure, one could argue that it is all in good fun and for the purpose of comedy since the show is a sitcom, but ask yourself one question: would you be able to thrive in a relationship like this in real life?

Let’s not forget that Penny marries Leonard the same day she finds out that he’s kissed another woman – this could point to the fact that she is much more invested in the relationship or simply loves him more.

Does Leonard deserve her? Hard to say.

Season 12 is a disaster in itself. In the third episode, Penny and Leonard are talking about children, and they are clearly not on the same page.

Leonard wants kids, and Penny thinks they are a “maybe” in the future far, far away.

They could have been such a great representation of a happy child-free couple, but the writers had to screw it all up by making Penny pregnant and suddenly wanting kids in the series finale.

This storyline truly feels like a slap in the face and a feeble attempt to make the viewers believe that Leonard and Penny will definitely stay together because of the child.

These two are a couple against all odds and logic. Is this a testament to their love or just poor writing? We guess everyone has to decide for themselves.

Love doesn’t make sense in real life either, so this could be the closing argument for Penny and Leonard’s weird relationship.

If they are happy, that is all that counts, right?
