The first look at Supernatural star Jensen Ackles in The Boys spinoff, Gen V, has been unveiled.
Ackles played Soldier Boy – a destructive superhero that served as one of the season’s main antagonists – in the third outing of Prime Video’s The Boys.
In a new set photo from the show’s superpowered spinoff, Gen V, the ‘original superhero’ is seen back in his combat gear, complete with the character’s iconic shield and peace/ ‘V’ sign.

The caption for the snap confirmed that Soldier Boy will be making a cameo in Gen V – though details surrounding the appearance are being kept tightly under wraps.
The homicidal super ‘hero’ ended season three of The Boys imprisoned in a cryogenic state; but given that Gen V has been confirmed to take place during the gap between seasons three and four of the flagship show, questions abound surrounding how Ackles’s appearance will come to fruition.
Gen V is set to follow superhero students at Godolkin University for Supes, and will see performances from Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Chance Perdomo, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.
The show’s most recent trailer teased a sinister secret beneath the halls of the school, set to be uncovered by Sinclair’s blood-bender Marie and her super-powered pals, all while they go through the regular trials and tribulations of college.
Executive Producer Seth Rogen has previously teased the spinoff as “more shocking” than the original Prime Video series.
“Gen V has some really crazy shit in it. The fact that they’re in college, they’re a little younger, makes it more shocking maybe,” he said.
“In general, if you’re making an R-rated thing, they let you do whatever you want, unless there’s some real legal thing that they think you might be bumping against.”
Gen V will be released on September 29 on Prime Video. The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video. Season 4 is in production.
