Season 3, Episode 1 is directed by Jeffrey Hunt and written by Penny Cox & Cynthia Adarkwa. Its official synopsis reads,

LET THE GAMES BEGIN — In order to get a handle on some urgencies at the school, Alaric (Matthew Davis) sends the students off-campus for their first-ever field day. Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, Kaylee Bryant, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, Peyton Alex Smith, Chris Lee and Ben Levin also star.

Details about the episode were released days after The CW shared photos from the premiere episode. The photos showed Lizzie, Josie, Kaleb, and Jed, along with other Salvatore School classmates, dressed in gear fit for some outdoor activities.

Flags are displayed in the background with phrases like “There’s no ‘me’ in unity,” “Teamwork is magical” and “Stallions that play together, stay together.”

A promo for the new season of Legacies dropped earlier this month, confirming that Season 3 will pick up where Season 2 ended — with Hope stuck in a cursed sleep and Landon fighting for his life after being stabbed with the golden arrow by his best friend, Rafael. While Alaric searches for a cure to wake Hope, Rafael volunteers to transfer Landon’s spirit into his body.

Season 3 will also see Leo Howard, who played Ethan in three episodes in Legacies’ Season 2, bumped to a series regular along with Ben Levin, who portrayed former Alpha werewolf, Jed. While no other plot details have been revealed for the new season, fans speculated that Season 3 will find protagonist, tribrid Hope Mikaelson, tapping into her vampire curse.
