It was announced last year that Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich, who has played Jughead’s father F.P. Jones since Season 1, would be leaving the show prior to its fifth season, with Ulrich citing creative boredom as his reason for departing. Now, a synopsis for the upcoming episode “Chapter Seventy-Nine: Graduation” teases the in-universe reason his character leaves town.
As detailed in the synopsis, F.P. makes a hard choice regarding not just his future but that of his daughter and Jughead’s sister Jellybean. Meanwhile, the gang begins to “consider their next steps beyond Riverdale High” with Graduation Day on the horizon.
Aside from Ulrich’s departure and the graduation of the main characters — Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge — Riverdale’s fifth season will include a time jump that sees the cast return to Riverdale as young adults.
