The Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan has landed a role in new movie Red Sonja.

The project, which is based on the Marvel comics but separate from the MCU, focuses on the titular fearsome warrior, who possesses strong skills with a sword.

Sheehan will portray Draygan, while Revenge’s Matilda Lutz will take on the role of Red Sonja with Sex/Life’s Wallis Day playing half-sister Annisia, Deadline reports.

Also on board are xXx: Return of Xander Cage’s Michael Bisping, F9’s Martyn Ford, Thor: Love and Thunder’s Eliza Matengu, Code Red’s Manal El-Feitury, and Doctor Strange’s Katrina Durden.

Solomon Kane’s MJ Bassett will direct, with Transparent’s Joey Soloway and Tomb Raider’s Tasha Huo writing the screenplay.

“I’ve wanted to make a Red Sonja movie since I was a teenager – she has been a powerful presence for me and a character that I have always wanted to bring to the screen with my own voice and vision,” Bassett said (via Deadline).

“When I met Matilda Lutz, I knew she had all the magic I was looking for and could see the complexity and depth she would bring to Sonja.”

Sheehan is perhaps best known for playing Klaus on The Umbrella Academy, which debuted its third season back in June.

As for the future of the show, showrunner Steve Blackman recently admitted that he doesn’t see the show going far beyond a fourth season.

“I think at a certain point, I’m not sure where we’d go after season 4,” he told TheWrap. “My plan for next year is not to continually tread on the same ground we have before.

“It’s a challenge to come up with a new way to subvert this storyline, and I think we have an idea how to do that.”

The Umbrella Academy seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Netflix.
