Legacies is inching ever closer to its series finale, and the synopsis for its last ever episode has (once again) hinted at the return of some Vampire Diaries favourites.
Following speculation that Joseph Morgan would be reprising his role as Klaus Mikaelson for the show’s conclusion, a new teaser appears to confirm what fans have been hoping for.
In the official episode description for ‘Just Don’t Be A Stranger, Okay?’, the finale’s plot promises “unexpected yet welcome sources” (via Comicbook.com).
“WELCOME HOME – Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), MG (Quincy Fouse), Kaleb (Chris Lee), Jed (Ben Levin), Cleo (Omono Okojie) and Alaric (Matthew Davis) reflect on recent events and what comes next for each of them,” the synopsis begins.
“Hope and Lizzie each find solace from unexpected yet welcome sources. Also starring Aria Shaghasemi and Leo Howard.”
After Joseph shared a cryptic message on social media alluding to his involvement in Legacies’ farewell, many are taking the synopsis to mean that Hope will somehow reunite with her father Klaus Mikaelson.
Meanwhile, it’s expected that Lizzie Saltzman will see her surrogate mother Caroline Forbes one final time.
Shortly after news of Legacies’ cancellation emerged, creator Julie Plec promised fans that she’d been given the opportunity by The CW to tie up any loose ends in the show’s series finale.
“The season finales of both shows [Roswell and Legacies] were carefully crafted to also work as series finales,” Plec reassured followers earlier this month.
In a specific nod to the Vampire Diaries spin-off, Plec added that she, Brett [Matthews], and the writing team had “poured all kinds of love into it”.
“And there are a couple surprises for long-time #TVDU fans that may just blow your mind,” she added.
Legacies airs on The CW in the US.
