The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus has joined the John Wick spinoff film Ballerina, adding another star to its already impressive list of names.
Reedus has signed on to star in the movie opposite Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick and Catalina Sandino Moreno in an as-yet-undisclosed role (via Deadline).
Filming has already begun on the project from director Len Wiseman and writer Shay Hatten which sees Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski produce.
Following the news that Reedus had boarded the film, producer Erica Lee said: “We’re huge fans of Norman, and we’re confident that the fans will be just as excited as we are that he’s joining the Wick universe. He’ll make an incredible addition to Ballerina.”
Ballerina stars No Time to Die’s Ana de Armas as the titular ballerina – an assassin who seeks revenge against the hitmen who killed her family.
As previously reported, Ian McShane is set to reprise his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel, in the upcoming movie.
“We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in Ballerina. He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original John Wick,” said producer Basil Iwanyk.
Also reprising a role from the original franchise is Anjelica Huston, who is set to return as head of the Ruska Roma crime syndicate The Director, having appeared in 2019’s Parabellum.
They will join fellow original John Wick actor Lance Reddick, whose involvement was announced earlier this month. Fans will remember him as Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel’s New York City branch.
In other Norman Reedus news, the actor is set to star in the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff series Daryl Dixon, which follows Daryl on a European zombie adventure in Paris.
