The Walking Dead has cast Netflix actress Margot Bingham for season 11 of the zombie apocalypse series.
Although it’s yet to be confirmed by the show who she’ll be playing, it seems highly likely that Bingham will take on the role of Stephanie, a character she provided the voiceover for in two episodes of season 10 – ‘Bonds’ and ‘Morning Star’.
A survivor of the outbreak, Stephanie is a mysterious woman from an unknown community located in Charleston, West Virginia. She’s currently in contact with Eugene Porter via radio.
Deadline confirmed the casting.
Bingham is best known for playing the lead role in Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, while she also featured in the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam, CBS All Access’ One Dollar and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.
Once The Walking Dead finally airs its delayed season 10 finale, season 11 could potentially begin to explore The Commonwealth storyline featured in the comics, which focuses on a network of communities with over 50,000 survivors.
Should this be the direction the show chooses to take, we could see Stephanie play a pivotal role in that arc.
With The Commonwealth being the last storyline in the comics, TWD creator Robert Kirkman recently teased that the TV show could go beyond the source material.
