The Walking Dead big star Andrew Lincoln’s new movie titled Penguin Bloom has been picked up by Netflix in important territories.
The film, which also stars Naomi Watts, will stream in North America, the UK, France and select countries in Asia on January 27.
Based on Bradley Trevor Greive and Cameron Bloom’s novel of the same name, Penguin Bloom, follows a young family struggling to come to terms with an accident that leaves the mother, Sam Bloom (played by Watts), paralysed. The family soon find comfort in nursing an injured magpie chick back to health.
Lincoln is playing Watts’ on-screen husband Cameron in the movie, which is directed by Glendyn Ivin.
Watts is producing the movie through her Jam Tart Films company alongside Emma Cooper and Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Jodi Matterson.
Speaking to Variety, Watts and her fellow producers said: “We all fell in love with the life-affirming nature of Sam’s story and her undeniable spirit. The emotional journey she and her family go on after Penguin enters their lives is unforgettable.
“We have a wonderful partner in Netflix and we’re delighted they will be bringing Penguin Bloom to audiences around the world.”
Meanwhile, earlier this week it was sadly confirmed that Lincoln’s Rick Grimes isn’t about to crop up in season 2 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
