Tom Hardy’s hit crime drama MobLand is set to go head to head with Adolescence at this year’s National Television Awards as the 2025 shortlist is revealed.

After the longlist was revealed in May, public votes have now been counted and the shortlist for the awards has now been confirmed.

Making the shortlist for New Drama alongside Adolescence and MobLand are Jilly Cooper’s Rivals and crime dramas Ludwig and Code of Silence.

It’s not the only category that sees Adolescence and MobLand go up against each other. The Drama Performance list also features actors from both shows.

Owen Cooper is nominated for his role as Jamie Miller in Netflix’s critically-acclaimed hit Adolescence, while Stephen Graham, who co-wrote the show with Jack Thorne, is also up for his performance as Jamie’s dad Eddie Miller.

Meanwhile, Hardy is also nominated in the Drama Performance category for his role as MobLand’s Harry Da Souza.

Joining them in the category are Rose Ayling-Ellis for her portrayal of Alison Brooks in Code of Silence and Brenda Blethyn for her emotional final case as DCI Vera Stanhope in Vera.

The ceremony will take place at London’s O2 Arena, where it will be broadcast live on ITV on Wednesday, 10 September from 8pm.

Up for an award in the TV presenter category are Ant & Dec, Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, Stacey Solomon and Gary Lineker.

The Serial Drama Performance category pits EastEnders star Steve McFadden against his co-star Jacqueline Jossa, Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper, Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd and Sue Devaney.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren alongside Hardy, MobLand tells the story of two rival mob families.

Adolescence, the much-talked about Netflix series, sees Cooper take on the role of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy who has been accused of murdering a girl at his school.
