The Flash spoilers follow.
The Flash has teased more details of the upcoming eighth season in its first full trailer.
The CW dropped the new trailer today (October 19) showing Grant Gustin’s Flash teaming up characters from throughout the Arrowverse.
Season eight is kicking off with a five-episode event on November 16, with episodes becoming available to stream on The CW the following day. The first arc is titled: ‘Armageddon.’
The series will see Despero, played by Tony Curran, fight against heroes and villains from throughout the DC universe, including Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) and Black Lightning (Cress Williams).
Doctor Who actor Curran was confirmed to be joining the series as a part of ‘Armageddon’ back in August. Despero has been described as a “powerful and intelligent alien possessing incredible powers” on Earth from his home world of Kalanor for a “deadly mission, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash”.
Despero will be joined by Arrowverse alumni Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, rounding out the ‘Armageddon’ villains.
Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow’s Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), Arrow’s Mia Queen (Katherine McNamara), Ray Palmer/Atom (Brandon Routh) and Ryan Choi/Atom (Osric Chau) are also joining the showdown.
In the trailer, Barry Allen tells his Arrowverse friends: “I need your help. I’m asking you to save the world.”
The inclusion of Arrow’s Mia Queen has raised questions, because if the new series is set in 2021 as it is believed to be, Queen would only be around 3 years old. This has led some fans to think time travel might play a role this season.
The long-awaited teaser opens with The Flash stating: “My name is Barry Allen and I’m about to do something impossible.”
The Flash airs on The CW in the US. Sky Showcase and NOW air the show in the UK.
