For the past ten years, Outlander has captivated audiences, earning its place as one of the best historical fantasy series of all time. In 2026, the series will return for its sixth and final season. But when exactly will it be streaming on Netflix? The answer varies depending on where you live.
Despite never appearing in the weekly global top 10s, the show remains popular on Netflix. According to Netflix Engagement Reports, Outlander has amassed 1.03 billion viewing hours between January 2023 and June 2025, which roughly translates to 84.9 million views.
A firm release date for Season 8 hasn’t been announced yet. However, at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Starz shared a 2-minute-and-26-second teaser trailer, confirming that the new season will premiere in “early 2026.” The final 10 episodes will adapt Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, the tenth and final novel in Diana Gabaldon’s series.
Outlander Season 8 Will Drop Weekly in Select International Territories
Most international territories, with the UK as a notable exception, carry Outlander in some form. Countries scheduled to receive Season 8 weekly beginning in early 2026 include Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Switzerland, and South Korea.
In other territories such as the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, and Sweden, fans will need to wait roughly a year after the season concludes. Local broadcasters typically retain an exclusive window, meaning the series likely won’t appear until late 2026 or even 2027.
Netflix US: The Longest Wait
In the United States, the wait for a new season of Outlander has historically been the longest. Netflix’s deal for the series is with Sony Pictures Television, which can only license the show to Netflix after Starz’s exclusivity period.
For previous seasons, this window has been two years after the finale airs. Season 7 followed this pattern, with the first eight episodes of its 16-episode run arriving on Netflix US on August 11, 2025 — exactly two years after the finale aired.
Season 8 will take even longer. If the new season premieres in early 2026 and wraps up by mid-2026, those 10 episodes won’t be available on Netflix US until mid-2028. That’s three years away from now. For fans eager to watch as soon as the episodes release, Starz will be the place to go.
Outlander Spin-Offs on Netflix
While the main series approaches its conclusion, the Outlander franchise continues with the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The first season has already premiered, and Season 2 is on the way.
For now, it doesn’t appear that these spin-offs will reach Netflix anytime soon, as most streaming rights have been claimed by other providers. There’s potential for Sony Pictures Television to bring them to Netflix in the future, but nothing is guaranteed.
