Why There Won’t Be A New Episode of Outlander this week

Bad news, Outlander fans—there won’t new a new episode this week, Sunday, April 17th.

The season is taking a week off for Easter. It will return on April 24th with episode seven, which is titled “Sticks and Stones.”

But based on what happened last Sunday in episode six, it seems like we may all need a week off to decompress. Need a refresher? Here’s a non-spoiler description of the episode:

A dysentery epidemic spreads on the Ridge, and Claire falls deathly ill. She is almost recovered when the Christies arrive and drop a bombshell on the Frasers. As nefarious rumors spread like wildfire on the Ridge, tragedy strikes.
So, it’s safe to say things aren’t looking great for the Frasers, as the season barrels towards the Revolutionary War.

It’s also probably no bad thing to take time to savor each new episode, because season six of Outlander is unfortunately just eight episodes long. But Starz has already renewed the show for season seven, and next season will be a bumper-length 16 episodes, to make up for the shorter-than-usual sixth. (The season was cut short due to challenges filming during COVID.) The season six finale, “I Am Not Alone,” will air on Sunday, May 1st.

Want even more of a first look at the drama to come?

This season of Outlander is based on the sixth book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. If the anticipation is killing you, you can always pick up a copy below:
