Lucifer season five will sadly be the final series of the supernatural comedy series. Welsh actor Tom Ellis plays the show’s main protagonist Lucifer Morningstar, who has fallen hopelessly in love with Detective Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) on Earth. The couple has never officially been together but in a video posted to the official Lucifer Instagram stories account, Ellis confirmed Chloe and Lucifer would end up together by the finale.

Will Lucifer and Chloe get married in final series?
At the end of Lucifer season four, Chloe Decker finally told Lucifer she loved him.

However, Lucifer had no other option but to return to rule over hell as the prophecy at Earth had been fulfilled.

Father Kinley (Graham McTavish) had warned Lucifer that once he meets his first love, hell on earth would be released.

Although Eve (Inbar Lavi) was supposed to be Lucifer’s first love, Detective Decker turned out to be the only woman Lucifer loved. A tearful Lucifer said in the final moments of the season four finale: “My first love was never Eve, it was you, Chloe.”

The series ended on a huge cliffhanger, with fans left wondering if Lucifer will return to Earth to be with Chloe or if Chloe will venture to hell to be with him in season five. Judging by cast and crew pictures and the episode titles released weekly by the Lucifer Writers Room on Twitter, it looks like Lucifer has returned to Earth and, even better, he and Chloe may pick things up from where they left off in season four.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Tom Ellis revealed episode four, titled It Never Ends Well for the Chicken, will be an alternative universe episode. In episode four, the cast of Lucifer will travel back in time to the 1940s and the entire episode will be filmed in black and white.

Ellis did not give any major plot details away but confirmed the Lucifer gang will be taking on “new persons with vastly different ‘characteristics’.“

German revealed her character Chloe is “pretty much nonexistent” in the episode and her alter ego will have an East Coast accent.

However, giving an interview to Katie Krause from Entertainment Tonight, German was dressed in her 1940s costume and was wearing a gold wedding band on her ring finger.

She did not speak about the ring but the fact she is wearing what looks like a wedding band seems to confirm that in an alternative world, she and Lucifer would be married. German is not believed to be married in real life, so the wedding ring was most likely was part of her costume.

German said: “None of us are playing our characters which is really, really fun.

“Everyone has a really different take on what they normally do — the language, the speaking, the look, the costumes.

“Wardrobe, hair and makeup just killed it. It’s also fun seeing the cast doing something so different.

“I was actually dreading this episode, to be honest; I was very nervous to go straight into this one and have a whole new sort of speak and walk to work on and now I don’t want it to end!“
