Young Sheldon has included a big callback to The Big Bang Theory in its season 6 finale.

Last night’s (May 18) finale saw a tornado hit town, which ended up destroying Connie’s (aka Meemaw) home. However, by the end of the episode George extended an invitation to have her stay with him and Missy.

The episode references a moment all the way back in season one of The Big Bang Theory, where Sheldon told Penny that his mother flew back to Texas to help his dad after the house was destroyed.

“It was tornado season, and it was an aluminum house,” he said, though this has now confirmed that it was in fact Meemaw’s home.

With season 6 now wrapped up, fans will no doubt be looking towards the seventh season – though it could be the show’s last, as executive producer Steve Holland suggested earlier this year.

“We’ve certainly started to talk about it,” he told TVLine. “When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s such a grind that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations. But now, as we’re getting to the end [of season 6], we’ve started to talk about it more.

“There are certainly [plot points] we know we want to hit next season, and there are certain things where, if it’s the end versus if it’s just [another season], those things might be different. It’s not my decision to make.

“I don’t think we’ll know for a while, but I don’t think it will affect the first half of [season 7]. I think it will play out the same either way. But as we get near the end, I think it will play out differently depending on whether this is, or is not, the final season.”
