Season 2 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood Is Coming — And Fans Are Already Speculating

Outlander: Blood of My Blood delivered big in Season 1, giving fans sweeping love stories, dramatic twists, birthing trauma, and surprising revelations about both new and familiar characters. With the first season ending on a massive cliffhanger, the stars are already teasing what’s coming in Season 2—and I have a theory that might just blow your mind.

What Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield Are Teasing About Season 2
Some of the earliest surprises came with the debut trailer, revealing that Claire’s parents, Julia and Henry Beauchamp, had also traveled back to 1700s Scotland through the famous standing stones. Episode 1 confirmed they didn’t die in the car crash from Claire’s childhood but were instead accidentally transported through time. On top of that, Julia and Henry were expecting another child, making their mission to reunite and return to the 1900s even more urgent.

Thankfully, the “will they make it home?” cliffhanger won’t keep fans waiting forever. The prequel spinoff has been renewed, and Season 2 is already filming. In an interview with TV Insider, Hermione Corfield (Julia) and Jeremy Irvine (Henry) teased some major developments. When asked about the danger Julia and Henry face in the new season and whether they’re still together, Irvine said:

“I mean, they end up in a wildly different place to where we think they’re going to end up. For Henry, I went in for my costume fitting and looked at my costume just went, ‘Why would I be fitted for that?’ So yeah, he ends up somewhere really unexpected, and is going to have to sort of really battle with his mental health and PTSD to try and get back.”

SPOILERS AHEAD: Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 Finale
Obviously, we wouldn’t have much of a Season 2 if the Beauchamps had successfully used the stones to take baby William back to the future and reunite with Claire. But what actually happened to Henry, Julia, and William when they activated the buzzing stones in the finale?

Corfield shared a hint about Julia’s journey at the start of Season 2:

“I think the plan goes awry. Julia ends up kind of back where she started, pretty much. In [Castle Leathers].”

A Theory: Henry and Julia Could Be Trapped in the Past
This cliffhanger strongly suggests that Julia, William, and Henry did not make it back to the 1900s—but time travel in this universe is rarely straightforward. While people with the time travel gene (and maybe a gemstone or two) can move backward in time, there’s no clear evidence that people from the past can move forward.

Henry and Julia traveling backward shouldn’t be an issue. But William, conceived in the future and born in the past, might only allow short forward jumps. Could it be that when Season 2 begins, they return just a few weeks later in the 1700s, instead of their own time?

This theory would explain why Julia and William land back at Castle Leathers and why Henry must face PTSD again. With the Scottish clans preparing for the Jacobite rebellion, as Brian warned, Henry may be forced into another brutal war to survive, all while trying to protect his family.

Time travel is unpredictable, and I could be completely wrong. But whether my theory holds or not, one thing’s certain: Season 2 is going to be intense, emotional, and full of the twists fans love.
