With The Big Bang Theory having aired its last ever season, fans of the hit US sitcom are now going back to the very beginning to enjoy the show all over again.

However, the only problem with that is that some fans are now finding the odd plot hole that detrimentally affects the rest of the series.

And one such fan recently took to Reddit to point out an error that was made in the very first season.

In episode eight of season one, Rajesh Koothrappali is reintroduced to Lalita Gupta, who we soon learn used to bully him as a child.

However, in adulthood, their parents arrange for them to marry each other, as Raj’s mother and father eagerly hope for grandchildren.

In the earlier seasons of the show, Raj was unable to talk to women unless he was drunk, so he made sure he was well and truly inebriated when he went on a date with Lalita. The only problem was he then became a little too talkative and came across as obnoxious.

Reddit user awomanstale has pointed out that Raj later told Howard: “Great. Then we’ll get married, I won’t be able to talk to her and we’ll spend the rest of our lives in total silence.”

To which Howard replies: “It worked for my parents.”

This might have seemed like a throwaway quip at the time, but we later learned in the show that Howard’s dad left when he was a child – so it clearly didn’t work.

Of course, at this early stage in the series, they would have still be throwing around ideas and probably didn’t even settle on Howard’s backstory – but that hasn’t stopped fans noticing the plot hole.
