Outlander fans were surprised to hear that Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish are now living together.

Outlander has been away from our screens far too long but more progress has been made. Last month, Starz revealed filming had come to an end for season six after it was delayed thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. If everything continues to run smoothly, then the period drama may return sometime in early 2022.

Are Outlander’s Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish a couple?

Sam Heughan stars as Scottish heartthrob Jamie Fraser in the Outlander series, finding romance with time-travelling Second World War nurse Claire Randall (played by Catriona Balfe).

Dougal Mackenzie (Graham McTavish) is Jamie’s maternal uncle and they shared a strong bond during the first four seasons of the drama.

The connection between Heughan and McTavish continued off-screen as well, having known each other for around a decade.

The pair grew even closer after filming their Scottish travel series Men in Kilts.

Some fans are now questioning if Heughahn and McTavish are in fact a couple following an Instagram Live video.

Seen together drinking glasses of wine, Heughan said: “We do live together now, don’t we?

McTavish replied: “Yes we do, we actually do. It’s very beautiful and we’re not ashamed to talk about it now.”

Heughan then added: “It’s the start of a beautiful relationship”, before clinking glasses with McTavish.

The actors filmed the video to share news of their book The Clanlands Almanac which will be about the “twelve-month odyssey through Scotland”, celebrating its culture and the people.

They are also going to be releasing an audiobook of their first book Clanlands.

McTavish joked: “We are going to be trapped in some kind of sweaty box together for many many many hours.”

While the acting duo seem very close, it isn’t believed that they are actually a couple.

McTavish is married to a woman called Gwen with who he has two children.

He prefers to keep his private life out of the spotlight so it is unknown how long they have been married.

On the other hand, Heughan remains single but has previously been romantically linked to Into the Woods’ MacKenzie Mauzy, Irish Twin Peaks star Amy Shiels and actresses Cody Kennedy and Abbie Salt.

An exact reason hasn’t been given as to why Heughan and McTavish are living together but it could be for work purposes.

There is still quite a while to wait before Outlander does make its comeback.

There won’t be any new episodes of the romantic drama until early 2022.

Nevertheless, the journey won’t end here as Outlander has already been given a seventh season renewal.

Outlander is available to watch on Starz.
