Arrow star David Ramsey has shared a promising update for new Arrowverse spinoff show Justice U.
Ramsey, who is set to direct Justice U, will reprise his role as John Diggle aka Spartan for the series, which sees the military veteran returning to the Arrowverse to train five new superheroes.
Opening up about the future of the spinoff series, which is still in production, Ramsey told TVLine that everything is still going ahead and a second draft of the script is near completion.
“We’re on the second draft of a script, and we just closed the deal on a writer,” the Arrowverse star explained.
However, Ramsey kept his cards close to his chest and said he was unable to reveal who the writer is but he promised fans that production on the series is still moving forward.
“I’m not sure I can say her name, so I won’t, but we’re very close to submitting our second draft. It’s still in development, and we’re moving forward.”
The official synopsis for Justice U reads: “After spending years fighting alongside masked heroes, John Diggle embarks on a new mission to recruit five young meta humans to live undercover as freshmen at a prestigious university. There he will oversee their education and train them to become the heroes of tomorrow.”
This wouldn’t mark the first time in the director’s chair for Ramsey as the actor has directed a number of Arrowverse episodes including an episode of Superman & Lois.
Meanwhile, his character John Diggle has appeared in multiple series in the Arrowverse including The Flash, Batwoman and Supergirl.
Justice U has been in production for some time and, following a series of cancellations at The CW, there’s no assurance the series will move past this stage but Ramsey’s update is a promising sign.
The Flash airs on The CW in the US. Sky Showcase and NOW air the show in the UK.
